The best edge glue result is single rip saw. The main reason is that there is only one single blade, and the pressure rollers can provide firm grip to the board to keep the board stay straight during ripping.

The gang rip saw takes second place. Since the movable rip saw seat can move which is more variable, this makes the edge glue effect become more difficult.

A. Excessive board warp or inconsistent board thickness

Boards that are excessively crooked or vary too much in thickness will bounce or squeeze against the saw blade during ripping. This creates saw marks on the edge surface and causes gaps when gluing boards together.

How to solve the issue:

• Use a double-side planer to ensure uniform thickness before ripping.
• Remove boards that are warped or too thick for the pressure roller to press firmly — especially important when using a movable rip saw that relies on strong roller grip for accuracy.

Key point: Avoid vibration during the ripping process to prevent saw marks. For higher precision and production stability, consider using a multiple rip saw for consistent results.

B. Improper drying process causing internal stress release

Improper kiln drying can cause internal stress in the wood. During ripping, this stress is released, which can deform the board. Environmental growth factors like sunlight and uneven moisture also cause irregular fiber distribution.

As a result, the board may become curved and lose straightness after ripping. For better pre-cutting layout to avoid waste, you can pair with a cross cut saw for end trimming or defect cutting.

How to solve the issue:

• Re-rip the board from both edges instead of the center to reduce deformation caused by stress release.
• Use a high-performance edge gluing machine with strong bonding strength for better joint quality.

(2) Clean and lubricate the movable saw seat properly.

(3) Daily clean and periodically preserve the track and the feed chain. The track and feed chain can run over 5 years with proper preserving, especially on machines like the multiple rip saw that operate in high-throughput environments.
